How a two-provider med spa in Charleston, SC grew its list from 219 to 645 contacts and held an 8% click rate — roughly four times the industry average — between September 2025 and September 2026.
Her clients trust her because she explains the why behind every treatment, and that knowledge is one of the practice’s biggest assets.
Before working with Aesthera, none of that knowledge made it past the treatment room. The practice had a client list, but no email program. Clients heard from the spa when they booked, and not much in between.
The spa wanted a way to stay in front of existing clients and bring new leads into the fold, without adding to the owner’s workload or sending the kind of generic promo blasts that get ignored.
Three things stood in the way. The list was made up entirely of past clients, with no mechanism for adding new people to it. Nobody on the team had time to design, write and send a regular email. And whatever went out had to sound like the practice, not like a template, or it would undercut the relationship the owner had built with her clients.
Every lead becomes a subscriber, every subscriber gets an email worth reading, and the practice’s point of view stays front and center in every send.
We connected the spa’s Google Ads campaigns to its email platform so every new lead was added to the list automatically. That single integration meant paid ads did double duty: each lead became a booking opportunity now and a subscriber for every month after.
We built a popup on the spa’s website with an offer for new subscribers, so people researching treatments who weren’t ready to book still ended up on the list.
Every email is custom-designed for this client, built around the spa’s brand rather than a stock template. Nothing about them reads as mass-produced, which is exactly why they get opened.
Because the owner is a wealth of knowledge for her clients, we built each email around practical tips in her voice, with features linking to the blog, a spotlight on a different service each month, and that month’s promos woven in rather than leading. The promos still run. They just arrive alongside something worth reading.
A single well-made email each month was enough to keep the practice top of mind without wearing out the list.
In September 2025, the spa’s email list held 219 contacts, all of them past clients. Twelve months later it holds 645 — a 195% increase — with new leads flowing in automatically from Google Ads and the website.
Across every send in that period, the emails averaged a 48% open rate and an 8% click rate. Published benchmarks for beauty and healthcare email put the average click rate between roughly 1.5% and 2.7%, which means this list clicks at about four times the norm. Of the people who opened, roughly one in six clicked through to book, read the blog or learn more about a featured service.
Open rates for any list are inflated somewhat by Apple’s Mail Privacy Protection, which is why we lead with clicks. Clicks are a real action, and 8% of a 645-person list is a meaningful number of people heading to the booking page every month.
The list grew because we stopped treating it as a static group of past clients. Every ad dollar and every website visit now feeds it, so the audience compounds month over month without extra effort from the practice.
The engagement remained high because the emails are worth reading. An owner who teaches her clients in the treatment room is an ideal voice for email. We just gave that voice a design and a schedule.
One email a month goes a long way. It’s enough to bring back clients who had drifted, fill slow weeks with a well-timed promo, and remind everyone on the list why they chose this practice in the first place.
